Product stewardship scheme – priority products submissions
The Government is looking to declare ‘priority products’ for six product groups that can create harm at end of life. It is also looking to declare ministerial guidelines to manage these products. These guidelines will place the cost of the product, at the end of its life, back on the producer or importer. The packaging guideline recommends a deposit paid on the bottle (10c back on the Coke bottle) which is great news. Submissions is Friday 4 October at 5pm, to make your submission please click here
The products listed are:
- Packaging
- Agricultural plastics & chemicals
- Batteries
- Electrical appliances
- Refrigerant gases
- tyres
It would be great to have as many submissions in support of the proposals as possible. Xtreme Zero Waste has made a submission and has included it here for you to use or reference.
