As of July1st, there will be a landfill price increase across Aotearoa.
This is part of the Government taking action on climate change, and acknowledging the massive impacts that waste has on the environment, land air and sea. For many years there has been no increase in landfill levy last year it went up $10 and the same increase this year, and next year increasing by $20.
The new price at Xtreme is $95 per cubic metre.
We wanted to be super clear where this $ goes to. We are not in the business of making profit of landfill, we are 100% in the business of reducing, reusing and recycling and working towards zero waste.
Not all communities have the opportunity that we have here with a local Resource Recovery Centre. We invite you to make the most of our site and services. At Xtreme we have many options to divert items from landfill, reducing the impact on Papatūānuku, and on your wallet.
We are here to help folks RETHINK what we buy, provide an opportunity to purchase or donate items to REUSE, there’s plenty ways to RECYCLE via our kerbside collection, drop off depots and onsite, our shop and yards are full of items to be REPURPOSED and we are keen to host some REPAIR workshops to help REDUCE items that may look ready to throw out, but could be fixed up.
